Outdoor Family Session l Hoboken, NJ
Two under two. Beautiful chaos. And also MY LIFE once.
Two under two is hard, challenging, exhausting but so incredibly amazing and rewarding to watch their relationship grow.
Two under two means your 1st baby becomes "big" over night. One is getting their first bottom teeth, the older (a late teether) is still teething. Two different sizes of diapers. Wipes, wipes and more wipes... One is being potty trained while the other is still going through major blow outs. Both sleep OR not OR on different schedules. Bed time...HA. Both want it their OWN way just to then have it each other's way. Both are two toddlers at the same time (enough said). One runs one way, the other runs the other way WHILE both DON'T listen. And by the end of the day, you feel like you ran a marathon and most likely pass out while putting them down to sleep.
But then time flies...
Today, is the last day my kids are 5 & 6. Tomorrow my oldest turns 7.
My kiddos, challenging for me for such a long time are now one single unit. Best friends. Inseparable. They play together for hours. They sleep 13 inches apart from each other. They are one grade a part and their teachers bring them to each other when they need comfort during the school day. They always think of each other when they are a part and make sure to pick up an extra treat for the other. They are beyond proud of one another and are each other's biggest cheerleaders. They can crack each other up so much so that one will inevitably fall off a chair or fall to the ground in giggles. Yes, they fight, but when it comes down to it, they have each other's back. They are one solid unit. And my pride.
This fall I have photographed a lot of families that have 2 under 2. And it all comes washing back to me from the first years, but then I can share with the parents, going through the thick of it, that it is SO MUCH FUN and really does become easier by each passing day. That it truly is the WORST BEST thing I have ever done! That they have so much to look forward to on the day-to-day, while the two create their own unique relationship. AND THAT THEY ARE DOING GREAT!!!! (Because we all need that reminder.)
This was my first family with 2 under 2s to kick off my fall sessions. And it was just as it should be, beautiful, unpredictable, exhausting, real and fun. And ended with big high five and a hug. And I think we nailed their pictures on this absolutely beautiful sunny fall day.
